Friday Favorites #6!

Hi hi! TGIF! I wanted to start off today’s post with some Friday Favorites, of course. Here’s what I’ve been loving this week:

1. THE WEATHER! I know I keep talking about this (and so does everyone) but what is better than crisp fall weather?! And this week it finally arrived in Boston. Yesterday was actually almost too cold! But I am so excited that it’s finally feeling like fall.

2.Β “The Given Day” by Dennis Lehane.Β This was my pick for our new book club book and I’m really enjoying it so far (although our book club books have a 500 page limit and this one’s 720… oops). I love that it takes place in Boston at the end of WWI – so cool to learn some history about my city!

3. Bath and Body Works fall candles! I picked up two this week – “Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin ” and “Sweater Weather”. They smell so strong and amazing and make my apartment feel so fall-ish! I love burning a candle as soon as I get home from work, as a little comforting treat πŸ™‚ .

4. Vegan pumpkin cookies. I mentioned making these in this blog post, and I ended up bringing them to book club and they were a hit! They’re super healthy and have the perfect amount of pumpkin taste. Plus the texture was awesome. Definitely will be making these a lot this fall/winter!

Sooo pretty much all fall-based Friday Favorites from me this week πŸ˜‰ .


I woke up yesterday and went on a nice five mile run, averaging about 8:30/mile. Finally getting some of my speed back since breaking my foot! It also felt so refreshing to run when it was in the low 50’s and breezy.

When I got into the office I enjoyed a Dunks pumpkin coffee and a bowl of flax oatmeal and strawberries!

For lunch I had a salad with spring mix, carrots, tomato, avo, and a light balsamic, with a Greek yogurt on the side. I’ve been having a variation of this lunch every day this week and it’s been really satisfying!

I got out for a walk after lunch and met Frankie for coffee (well, I got a green tea)! He had a meeting near my office πŸ™‚ I love seeing him in the middle of the day!

I spent the rest of the afternoon working, and took a break to snack on a little too much Halloween candy from the office 😦 .

I went home around 5:00 and just read and chilled. Frankie picked up sweetgreen salads for us – I got their new fall bowl, “Curry Cauliflower”, with arugula, quinoa, roasted curry cauliflower, herb falafel, cilantro, cabbage, raisins, hot sauce, and cucumber tahini yogurt dressing! It was SO good and it felt good to nourish my body with that healthy salad after a little too much candy earlier in the afternoon…

Friday Favorites #5

Hey there! Happy Friday πŸ™‚ . Let’s start out with some Friday Favorites from this week…

1. HIKING!!Β I went on Sunday and it reminded me how much I truly love hiking, especially during the fall! There’s nothing quite like working up a sweat while ascending a mountain while your feet crunch on leaves and you breathe in the cleanest air. Excited for lots more hiking this season πŸ™‚ .

2. Reese’s pumpkins. I know I know, candy isn’t even close to being healthy, but one Reese’s pumpkin per day can’t be too bad, especially during October! I, personally, need to focus on keeping it to only one piece, though…Β The chocolate to peanut butter ration is just too perfect.

3. The TV show “Nathan for You”. For those of you with a dryer sense of humor, you’ve got to check out this TV show. I literally cannot stop laughing while watching it.Β  It’s about this guy, Nathan, who visits smaller businesses and tries to help them improve in the most hilarious, ridiculous ways.

4. Trader Joe’s Organic Oats & Flax Instant Oatmeal. I’ve been having this oatmeal with fruit for breakfast lately, and it is soooo good. Not only is it really filling, but it has the best texture with flax seeds in it. Perfect for a cool fall morning!

5. This blogging community! I can’t even put into words how grateful I am to interact with you guys regularly. I really appreciate how you all handled everything that happened in Vegas earlier this week, and I feel like we’ve grown such a warm, nice space we can always come to. Let’s keep this going please!!

Taking things back to yesterday… When my 6:00 am alarm started blaring in my ear, I decided that I needed bed more than workout. So I slept until 7:30 then headed to work to make an 8:30 meeting. I picked up some Dunks on my way in, and had a mug of oatmeal with strawberries!

After my two morning meetings, I got a day pass to a gym near my office. I did a solid hour on the ArcTrainer (while watching the news/freaking out), a quick stretch, then took a shower.

When I got back I had the same lunch I had on Wednesday – a salad with spring mix, grape tomatoes, baby carrots, and a light balsamic dressing. I also had a Fage Greek yogurt on the side (I couldn’t take a picture because I ate during a meeting!).

The remainder of my afternoon was filled with meetings. I snacked on a Mint Chocolate Chunk Quest Bar…

And then a ton of other random stuff. There were so many snacks in our office cafeteria yesterday (popcorn, Tostitos and salsa, Teddy Grahams…) so I ended up snacking wayyy too much 😦 . I need to get out of this funk! I usually have much better self control, but for some reason these past several days (hmmm… weeks) have been bad.

At least I had a light, healthy dinner. Sweetgreen just started serving their fall menu!! I got an “Apple Pear Cheddar” salad with kale, mesclun, pears, apples, raw pecans, white cheddar, basil, and a little balsamic vinaigrette.

I spent the rest of my night chilling and doing lottttsss of wedding planning! We’re currently making our website which is really fun but kinda stressful. I’m excited for our save the dates to arrive so we can work on addressing those and sending them out ASAP!

Friday Favorites #4!

Hi friends! Happy, happy Friday! I am SO glad that this week is over (it was a rough one for me) and I’m ready for the weekend. Let’s start out with some Friday Favorites from the week…

1. RUNNING!!Β I went for my first run in three months on Monday, and it felt incredible! I’ve missed the feeling of just walking out my door and running wherever I want while zoning out/listening to music. I am going to take things easy getting back into it (one or two 3-5 mile runs a week), but I am so happy to be back out there!

2. Dunkin’ Donuts Pumpkin Spice Syrup. I’ve been getting one pump of this in my morning coffee and it makes me soooo happy that it’s finally fall! I love pumpkin anything and just one pump of this syrup makes my coffee amazing, and it’s only about 50 calories. So worth it.

3. My J.Crew Factory “wool sidewalk skirt”. I have this skirt in black and gray and I wear one of them at least once a week. They are so cute, fit perfectly, and are really comfy. I’ll probably get another one for fall… maybe the cabernet color?? (They look super cute with black tights!)

4. Having seltzer next to me on my desk. I’ve been struggling with a bit of mindless/stress-induced snacking, but I find that having a yummy flavor of seltzer water next to me helps out a lot! Having something a bit more “special” and filling than plain water has helped me to avoid reaching for the trail mix after lunch.

5. “This is Us” being back!Β I know I’ve mentioned this in previous posts, but boy am I excited for “This is Us” to be back! Makes Tuesday nights the best nights, in my opinion πŸ˜‰ . For those of you who don’t watch, catch up on season one so we can talk about season two!!

Yay for Friday. Now let’s take it back to my day yesterday… I woke up literally one minute before my alarm was supposed to go off (why does this always happen to me?) and headed to a Flywheel spin class. Both Frankie and I felt so much better yesterday than the day before – woohoo! We’re on the mend.

Flywheel was tons of fun and a great sweat, as usual. After class I showered at the studio and headed straight to work. I picked up some Dunks pumpkin coffee on my way in, and had that with some GOLEAN cereal and a little coconut milk.

At 11:00 I got a flu shot… OUCH! I hate shots. But it really wasn’t too bad. I love that my office brings flu shots to us – makes it so convenient!

For lunch I grabbed a “Vegetarian Deluxe” salad from Au Bon Pain, with romaine and field greens, roasted peppers, kalamata olives, feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, chickpeas, and red onions. I didn’t even need a dressing! If you haven’t noticed… yes, I’ve been buying lunch every day and I’m not proud of it. We just never got a chance to grocery shop for the week with our NYC trip and everything. BUT this is not gonna happen next week!!

I had a productive afternoon at the office, and snacked on a Chocolate Peanut Butter Questie when I got hungry, around 4:00.

Then I left work to head to a 5:30 hip hop yoga class! It was so much fun and such a great workout/stretch. My left arm felt super sore in my first downward dog and I couldn’t figure out why… Oh yeah, my flu shot πŸ˜‰ . I love the sign outside the studio.

And here’s the beautiful studio. I absolutely love this space (can I get married here πŸ˜‰ ).

I decided to walk home from yoga because it was such a beautiful day in Boston – finally not sweltering and humid! When I got home I cracked open a Cayennade booch.

And I made a very simple dinner: a sweet potato, some brussels sprouts, and mushrooms with some lentils on the side.

I was craving something sweet so I made Quest Bar cookies! AKA I cut up a Quest Bar and baked it in the oven at 325 for three minutes, then flattened each piece down a little with a spatula and baked for another three minutes. They seriously taste like warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies!

Frankie went to see another wedding venue near his work while I was at yoga. He loved it and this makes our decision even more difficult! When he got home, we snacked on some of those cookies while watching Comedy Central.

I’m so excited to finally pick a venue and have a DATE SET! Hopefully we’ll know our wedding date by the end of the weekend. Then, I want to make some specific goals to achieve before the wedding πŸ™‚ .

Friday Favorites #3!

Hey hey! TGIF – am I right?! Here are a few of my random favorite things from this past week…

1. The Juice from the Raw cleanse. I know I’ve talked about it a lot this week, but this juice cleanse has got me feeling GREAT! I am still riding that energized, post-cleanse high (even though I finished the cleanse on Sunday)! I could not recommend it more – the juices taste fantastic and it really does detox your system, both mentally and physically πŸ™‚ .

2. My iPhone Smart Battery Case.Β I’ve been using this case this week, and plan to use it in NYC this weekend. It carries about double the charge your phone typically carries! I’ve only been charging my phone once every 1.5-2 days. And I love the look and feel of it!

3. Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle. I only wash my hair twice a week, so on days when I do super sweaty workouts I like to rinse my hair in the shower then spray it with this. It smells sooo good, detangles my hair really well, and protects against heat!

4. Spotify’s “Cardio” Playlist. Sometimes I like to take a break from my own music/playlists. I find that this “Cardio” playlist is constantly updated and has super upbeat tunes! Love listening to this when I’m on the elliptical. A couple of my fav workout songs from it are “Would you Ever” – Skrillex, Poo Bear and “Salvage (Up All Night) [feat. Poo Bear]” – Galantis, Poo Bear.

5. The “Off the Vine” podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe. I mentioned this in a post earlier this week, but I just love this podcast – it’s the perfect thing to listen to as a little break from work. I think she talks about some important, real things (along with some silly, ridiculous things) and I can’t stop listening!

And now let’s take it back to yesterday. I woke up right at 5:55 am, did some reading, then headed to a Flywheel spin class! For those of you who haven’t heard of Flywheel, it’s a spin studio that tracks your workout progress with numbers (torque, RPM, power, total power) and puts your total power on a big monitor so the whole class can see. Definitely a good workout for the more competitive type!

Then I showered at the studio and took the subway to work. I picked up Starbucks coffee on my way in, and had that with my usual GOLEAN cereal, lots of strawberries, and vanilla almond milk. I’m sad that strawberry season is coming to a close πŸ˜₯ .

For lunch I had a big salad with baby spinach, half an avocado, tomatoes, carrots, and a light balsamic dressing.

Another very busy day at the office. I got out for a short walk after lunch, and I had my White Chocolate Raspberry Quest Bar when I got hungry a few hours later.

I left the office a little bit early just to finish up packing for NYC and make sure the apartment was all set for the weekend. When my fiance got back from work, we walked to the train station, with a stop at B.GOOD to pick up some din for the train ride! I got their new “Spaghetti & Meatballs” bowl filled with zucchini noodles, eggplant “meatballs”, parmesan, kale, herbed marinara, green beans, heirloom tomatoes, and a balsamic glaze! It was SO delicious and so filling! It seriously kept me full for the entire four-hour train ride πŸ™‚ .

After eating, I spent the rest of the trip reading “Fitness Junkie”, doing some work, catching up on some blogs, and napping. We arrived in NYC around 11:00 pm so we took a cab straight to the hotel and passed out.

I’m super excited for a weekend in NYC and for our friends’ wedding on Saturday!! I hope you guys have the best Friday and start to your weekend.

Have you been to NYC? Tell me some of your favorite spots!! Frankie lived in NYC for 10 months while we were dating, so I spent every other weekend there and really felt like I lived there for a while. It’s the best city ever, second to Boston πŸ˜‰ .

Friday Favorites #2!

Hey guys, HAPPY FRIDAY!! We made it through the week!! I’ll start today’s post with some of my random favs from this past week.

1. This lululemon Instagram post. I saw it yesterday and I just love the life hack in the caption – not only pertaining to running, but pertaining to any morning workout! My favorite thing to do as soon as I wake up is to go and workout, prior to checking any emails/blogs/social media. For sure the best way to start the day.

2. Piper Wei Natural Deodorant. I was a little skeptical at first (you have to put a pea-sized amount of this gray substance on your finger and rub it on your armpit…) but it works well and smells amazing! I’m all for using as many all-natural products as I can.

3. Kashi GOLEAN cereal, obviously! If you’ve been reading my posts this week I’m sure you know this one… It tastes so good, has 12 grams of protein per serving, and mix it in with some fruit and almond milk and you stay full for hours! I eat breakfast around 9:00 am and stay full until 12:00-12:30.

4. The book “Fitness Junkie” by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza. I just started it and it’s really funny/related to fitness! It’s about a successful businesswoman in NYC who is being pressured to lose weight, and it highlights society’s current health obsessions and fads. I’m loving it so far!

5. Spin classes! I’ve always been a spin lover, but I’m recently getting back into regular spin classes (2-3 times a week). There’s nothing quite like pushing yourself while pedaling to the beat of some great music in a full class. Those 45 minutes speed by.

Now let’s chat a bit about yesterday! Since I was out so late at book club on Wednesday night, I decided to prioritize sleep over my morning workout. I slept in until about 8:00 am (wtf?), then showered and headed to work. I had Starbucks coffee and of course a mug of GOLEAN cereal with half a banana and vanilla almond milk for brekkie.

For lunch I had the same salad I had the day before – spring mix, avo, carrots, tomatoes, and a light Italian dressing. Such a good combo!

Then I went on a (slow) post-lunch walk to get outside for a bit. My foot is still hurting a little, but it has definitely gotten better since I got home from vaca!

I had another meeting-filled afternoon, and took a break to munch on a Lemon Meringue Pie No Cow Bar. This was my first time trying this flavor and WOW it was good! I think it’s my new fav. There are little crunchy pieces of lemony goodness in it.

At 4:00 I went to my company’s yoga class! So I was able to get my sweat on later in the day πŸ™‚ . Then I left the office to meet my fiance to get my ring resized (it was a little big so I was wearing it on my middle finger, haha).

We headed home and I cracked open a Brew Dr. kombucha. So refreshing on a humid, muggy evening.

And I cooked up a big din of tofu, a sweet tater, baby spinach, and green chili and cilantro polenta.

I spent the rest of the night working on some wedding planning (!!) and catching up on more Bachelor in Paradise.

Frankie and I will be starting our three-day juice cleanse today – we wanted to do this as a mental reset after our extremely indulgent Spain trip. Wish us luck! I hope you guys have the BEST Friday and start to your weekend!

FRIDAY FAVORITES!

Hi friends! Happy Friday! I thought I’d hop on the Friday Favorites train πŸ™‚ . Here are my six random favs from this week!

1. Weeknight workout classes. When I was injured, my schedule was boring and simple: gym, work, home. Now that my foot is basically healed, for nights when I don’t have plans I like scheduling a post-work workout class for myself, so I don’t just go home and sit on the couch all night! This also helps me to stay on track with my eating choices during the workday – who wants to go to a yoga class with a full tummy?! I’ve been loving yoga and pilates πŸ™‚ .

2. No Cow Bars. If you’ve been reading my posts this week, you know I’ve gotten into these vegan protein bars! I haven’t quite decided if I am in LOVE with them, but I’m definitely enjoying them and glad I’ve found a vegan alternative to Questies!

3. Trader Joe’s face lotion. I wouldn’t typically trust Trader Joe’s for my beauty products, but I read a great review about this lotion so when I saw it at TJ’s, I picked it up. And it’s amazing! Unscented, super light, and it has SPF! Perfect for summer.

4. Mario Party. Yup, I’m a nerd. My boyfriend and I have been playing tons of Mario Party since we’ve gotten our Wii, and it is too much fun. I don’t think I will ever get too old for/sick of this game.

5. My J.Crew maxi skirt. I am obsessed with this skirt and I’ve worn it twice this week. It is soooo soft and comfy, and goes with just about anything. It’s also super flattering! Unfortunately I bought it a year or two ago so it’s sold outΒ at J.Crew, but I found some on sale here!

6. The new Biebs song. I can’t stop listening to Friends (with BloodPop). He is just too good and will always be one of my favorites. I’m also SO excited for T Swift’s new release/album!!!

Now let’s take it back to yesterday… I woke up still SO sore from Tuesday’s pilates class! What the heck. But I pushed past the soreness, headed to the gym, and did an hour-long hill climb on the bike. My legs were pooped but I got it done!

When I got into work I had my Starbucks and a Dark Raspberry Truffle No Cow Bar. The most delicious way to start my day.

For lunch I had a salad with spinach, carrots, an avocado, tomatoes, and a light balsamic. I go through one of those big Trader Joe’s bags of avocados prettyyyy quickly πŸ˜‰ .

I went on a lovely walk after lunch – it was beautiful out and I talked to my mom on the phone for a while (I could seriously chat with her all day)! When I got back into the office, I had a couple of meetings and snacked on a bowl of plain Greek yogurt and raspberries. I also drank lots of lemon seltzer which filled my tummy right up for the rest of the afternoon.

I left work a bit early to head to a TRX bootcamp class! Pre-injury I went to this class every Wednesday morning, so I really missed it! It’s a tough class filled with TRX and bodyweight exercises – a good mix of strength and cardio.

After bootcamp, I took a quick shower at the studio and walked to my friend’s house. Of course I picked up some wine on the way over πŸ˜› . My friend had me and another friend over for dinner for some much-needed girl talk, a scrumptious fig flatbread, and lots of wine. It was so much fun.

And my friend asked us to be her bridesmaids!!!! She has been one of my best friends since freshman year of college, and I cannot wait to help her celebrate the most important day of her life πŸ™‚ .

Then my sweet boyfriend picked me up and we passed out as soon as we got home. It was the best Thursday!!

I hope you guys have a fabulous Friday/start to your weekend! I’m working from home today and spending my lunch break visiting the animal hospital/adoption center that my mom works at with my sister πŸ™‚ . I can’t wait! See you guys in the AM.
